Let \(M^n\) be a compact Kähler manifold of complex dimension \(n\) and \(\tilde g\) a Kähler metric of positive holomorphic bisectional curvature. Let the normalised Kähler-Ricci flow be \[ \partial_t g_{i\bar j}(x,t)=-R_{i\bar j}(x,t)+g_{i\bar j}(x,t) \] with initial condition \(g(x,0)=\tilde g\). Suppose that the Kähler class of \(\tilde g\) is normalised such that \([\tilde \omega]=\pi c_1(M)\) (this is always possible). The main result of this paper announces that, under these assumptions, the solution \(g(x,t)\) of the Kähler-Ricci flow is nonsingular, namely the curvature of \(g(x,t)\) is uniformly bounded independent of \(t\). The great interest of the proof is that it does not make use of the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric (resulting from Mori and Siu-Yau solution of the Frankel conjecture), as in the proof of Chen-Tian. The actual proof is based on a Harnack inequality proved by the first author in [Invent. Math. 109, No. 2, 247--263 (1992; Zbl 0779.53043)].
