Connections between (weak) monotonic monolithity and Corson compactness, condition (G) of Collins and Roscoe and (hereditarily) \(D\)-spaces are explored. Monotonically \(\omega\)-monolithic compacta are Corson compact but not conversely. A space \(X\) is monotonically monolithic if and only if to each finite \(F\subset X\) may be assigned a countable family \(\mathcal N(F)\) of subsets of \(X\) such that for each \(A\subset X\), \(\bigcup_{F\in|A|^{<\omega}}\mathcal N(F)\) contains a network at each point of \(\overline{A}\).
