We consider the heat conduction on a Riemannian symmetric space of the noncompact type. We assume that the symmetric space X is embedded in the Oshima compactification \(\tilde X\) and that the initial value has a limit along the Martin boundary of X. Under these assumptions we show that the steady state of the heat conduction is a harmonic function which is given by the Poisson integral of the initial value along the Martin boundary.
