Recall that a Banach space is Grothendieck if \(X^*\) has the same weak and weak\(^*\)-convergent sequences. A typical non-trivial example of a Grothendieck space is \(\ell_\infty(\Gamma)\) for each set \(\Gamma\). The Grothendieck property has been quantified by H. Bendová (who, after her marriage, has recently changed her name to Krulišová). Moreover, she proved that \(\ell_\infty(\Gamma)\) satifies even the \(1\)-Grothendieck property [\textit{H. Bendová}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 412, No. 2, 1097--1104 (2014; Zbl 1322.46008)]. In this paper, the author generalizes the above-mentioned result about \(\ell_\infty(\Gamma)\) and gives a sufficient condition on a totally diconnected compact \(K\) guaranteeing that \(C(K)\) is \(1\)-Grothendieck, see Theorem 1.3. This condition is satisfied, e.g., by every extremally disconnected compact Hausdorff space or by the Haydon space (a nonreflexive Grothendieck space not containing \(\ell_\infty\) [\textit{R. Haydon}, Isr. J. Math. 40, 65--73 (1981; Zbl 1358.46007)]).
