Investigation of \(p\)-adic Green's function (Q1177831)

One way to generalize the concept of a free Euclidean quantum field is to let space and momentum variables take on values in the \(p\)-adic numbers. The author studies \(p\)-adic Green's functions of the two-dimensional free field and particularly derives asymptotic formulas for them. He also describes in some detail calculational techniques that help to perform the necessary integrations with respect to the Haar measure. The approach is purely formal with no hint as to why the results could be of interest to mathematical physics.
