The author studies a variant of the inverse spectral problem for a one-dimensional Schrödinger operator (on the whole line) with purely discrete spectrum where the potential known on the half line and the spectrum determine the potential completely. The author gives a generalization of the uniqueness result by \textit{F. Gesztesy} and \textit{B. Simon} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 352, No. 6, 2765-2787 (2000; Zbl 0948.34060)]; namely, the condition on the growth of the potential is replaced by several variants of less restrictive conditions. The method is based on using analytic (distribution of zeros) and asymptotic properties of Weyl \(m\)-functions.
