A variety of algebras (in the sense of universal algebra) has an independent basis of identities, if the variety can be defined by a system of identities \(\{u_i=v_i \mid i\in I\}\), such that none of these identities is a consequence of the rest of them. There are known examples of semigroup varieties having no independent basis of identities. In the present paper the author constructs a variety of not necessarily associative rings, which has no independent basis of identities.
