In the paper under review, the author presents some results concerning the Hamiltonian structure of the Yang--Mills theory. The whole theory is constructed on finite-dimensional fibred manifolds. Denote by \(n\) the dimension of the base manifold of the fibred manifold. An essential tool for the developed theory is the calculus of variations on fibred manifolds which is based on some generalization of the concept of Lepagean \((n+1)\)-form. This approach leads to the possibility to regularize a Lagrangian whose standard Hessian is singular. In particular, it is the case of the Yang--Mills theory. It should be emphasized that this paper is an informative one, most of the results being listed without proper proofs. It is organized as follows. A survey of the general variational theory is given and the results involving a Hamiltonian field theory needed in the Yang--Mills theory are summarized. Furthermore, a Hamiltonian system associated with the Yang--Mills theory is presented and a Legendre transformation after the regularization is performed.
