The author considers the cosine convolution product \(\ast_c\) in the Banach space \(L_\omega^{1}({\mathbb R}^{+})\) (for certain weight functions \(\omega\)). The character space of the corresponding Banach algebra \(L_\omega^{1}(\mathbb R^{+}, \ast_c)\) is described and it is proved that its multiplier algebra is isomorphic to \(M_\omega(\mathbb R^{+}, \ast_c)\), where \(M_\omega(\mathbb R^{+})\) denotes the space of all Borel measures on \({\mathbb R^{+}}\) such that \[ \| \mu\| _\omega := \int_{\mathbb R^{+}} \omega(t) \,d| \mu| (t) < \infty, \] with \(| \mu| \) being the total variation of \(\mu\). The main results of the paper concern bounded algebra homomorphisms from \(L_\omega ^{1} (\mathbb R^{+}, *_c)\). The author obtain a variant of Kisyński's theorem [\textit{J.\,Kisyński}, Ann.\ Pol.\ Math.\ 74, 161--200 (2000; Zbl 0964.44001)] for such homomorphisms and characterize them in terms of integrated cosine functions. In addition, a generalization of the generation theorem for cosine functions [cf.\ \textit{M.\,Sova}, ``Cosine operator functions'', Rozpr.\ Mat.\ 49 (1966; Zbl 0156.15404); \textit{G.\,da Prato} and \textit{E.\,Giusta}, Boll.\ Unione Mat.\ Ital.\ (3) 22, 357--362 (1967; Zbl 0186.47702)]) on a Banach space is also presented.
