The problem of establishing different conditions for the complementation of the subspace of compact linear operators between Banach spaces in the space of bounded linear operators has been widely studied by several authors. The article under review extends some of these conditions to the polynomial setting. If \(\mathcal P(^nE;F)\), \(\mathcal P_{w}(^nE;F)\), \(\mathcal P_{\mathcal K}(^nE;F)\) and \(\mathcal P_{wK}(^nE;F)\) denote the spaces of continuous, weakly continuous on bounded sets, compact and weakly compact \(n\)-homogeneous polynomials between the Banach spaces \(E\) and \(F\), respectively, among other results, the author shows that, if \(E\) and \(F\) are infinite-dimensional spaces and \(E\) contains a complemented copy of \(\ell_1\) or \(F\) contains a copy of \(c_0\), then neither \(\mathcal P_{w}(^nE;F)\) nor \(\mathcal P_{\mathcal K}(^nE;F)\) are complemented in \(\mathcal P(^nE;F)\). Also, if \(F\) contains a copy of \(c_0\) and \(E\) contains a complemented copy of \(c_0\), then \(\mathcal P_{wK}(^nE;F)\) is not complemented in \(\mathcal P(^nE;F)\). When \(n=1\) (the linear case), these results were obtained by \textit{I. Ghenciu} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 133, No. 9, 2621--2623 (2005; Zbl 1073.46011)].
