We provide a survey of microcomputer-based software for solving nonlinear programs and systems of simultaneous nonlinear equations. Package features are discussed in detail. In addition, the packages are compared with respect to accuracy and efficiency over a set of well-known test problems. Standout packages are identified and future research directions are mentioned.
