Let \(G\) be a finite simple group, \(p\) a prime and \(P\) a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\). Suppose that there exists a perfect isometry \(I\) between the principal \(p\)-blocks \(B\) of \(G\) and \(b\) of \(H=N_G(P)\). Moreover, suppose that \(H/O_{p'}(H)\) is a Frobenius group with kernel \(PO_{p'}(H)/O_{p'}(H)\), denote by \(\mu_1,\dots,\mu_e\) the irreducible characters in \(b\) which have \(PO_{p'}(H)\) in their kernel, and denote by \(\chi_1,\dots,\chi_e\) their images under \(I\). The author proves that \(\chi_1,\dots,\chi_e\) are constant on \(p\)-singular elements. This is then used to show that in the case where \(G\) is a Suzuki group and \(p=2\), no such perfect isometry can exist. This had been established before by \textit{G. Cliff} [J. Algebra 226, No. 1, 74-90 (2000; Zbl 0953.20003)] by different methods.
