The authors consider functions \(f: X\to Y\), where \(X\) is a vector space over the field of reals and \(Y\) is a real Banach space. They give necessary and sufficient conditions for \(f\) to be the sum of a linear mapping and a bounded one. (One part of the conditions used is the well-known Hyers-Ulam condition, see e.g., \textit{G. L. Forti} [Aequationes Math. 50, No. 1-2, 143-190 (1995; Zbl 0836.39007)] for an excellent survey on this topic. This condition is equivalent to the fact that \(f\) is the sum of an additive function and a bounded one).
