The author's summary is: ''Let \((T_ k)\) be a sequence of bounded, linear operators from a Banach space X into a Banach space Y. Suppose \((T_ k)\) has the property that for each bounded sequence \((x_ n)\) in X there exits a positive integer k such that \((T_ kx_ n)_ n\) has a norm (weakly) convergent subsequence; then \((T_ k)\) contains a (weakly) compact operator. This is a result of Tacon. In this paper, the hypotheses are suitably modified to conclude that \((T_ k)\) contains a Dunford-Pettis, complete, weakly complete, or weakly pre-compact operator. The last of these results is shown under the assumption of, e.g., the Continuum Hypothesis.''
