This study represents an application of ELLAM (Eulerian-Lagrangian Localized Adjoint Method) to solve convection-diffusion equations in magnetodhydrodynamics, mainly the advection and diffusion of the magnetic field. It is observed that no preconditioning is needed for the numerical method due to the fact that the equation is convection-dominated and the linear system is well-conditioned after the discretization. The simulations of three two-dimensional test problems are reviewed and in each case the evolution of the energy of magnetic fields toward the equilibrium state is analyzed. The numerical results are evaluated and highlight the desired accuracy and efficiency of ELLAM approach for convection-dominated cases.
