The very remarkable paper under review includes a proof of the celebrated conjecture proposed by \textit{M.~Kashiwara} and \textit{M.~Vergne} [Invent. Math. 47, 249-272 (1978; Zbl 0404.22012)] on the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff series associated with an arbitrary finite-dimensional real Lie algebra. The proof is based on recent results obtained by \textit{C.~Torossian} [J. Lie Theory 12, No.2, 597-616 (2002; Zbl 1012.17002)]. One section of the paper is devoted to a discussion of three versions of the conjecture mentioned above. The equivalence of these three statements is carefully proved. The main version is the one concerning the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff series, while the other two versions have a geometric flavor. After the main variant of the conjecture is proved, the authors formulate a new variant in terms of Lie algebra cohomology, and this provides the motivation for a new conjecture that involves homotopies of cochain maps between the Chevalley-Eilenberg complexes of certain distribution spaces viewed as Lie algebra modules.
