Computing residue class rings and Picard groups of orders (Q2577535)

The authors develop methods for the computation of the unit group of the residue class ring modulo an ideal, the unit group, the Picard group, of an arbitrary order \(O\) of a global field \(K\). Major tools for their computations are localization and the presentation of finitely generated abelian groups by generators and relations. Especially, the calculation of the unit and of the Picard group of \(O\) require the knowledge of the unit group and of the class group of \(K\). The paper includes several illustrative examples.
