Let \(G_0\) be a compact Abelian group. The usual Kolmogorov \(\nu\)-width \((\nu\in\mathbb{N}^*)\) of the subset \(C\) of \(L^p(G_0)\) is defined by \[ d_\nu(C,L^p(G_0))= \inf_{\dim L\leq\nu} \sup_{x\in C} \text{dist}_{L^p(G_0)}(x,L). \] For a locally compact Abelian group \(G= G_0\times\mathbb{R}^{d_1}\times\mathbb{Z}^{d_2}\), the authors define the average dimension \(\nu\) \((\nu\in\mathbb{R}^*_+)\) of a subspace \(L\) of \(L^p(G)\), and the average Kolmogorov \(\nu\)-width \(\overline d_\nu(C,L^p(G))\) of the subset \(C\subseteq L^p(G)\), which generalize the usual corresponding notions. Then they announce the formula \[ \begin{aligned} \overline d_\nu(W^K_p,L^2(G)) & = \Biggl(\int^{+\infty}_\nu|\widehat K^*(t)|^2dt\Biggr)^{{1\over 2}}\quad\text{for }p=1,\\ \overline d_\nu(W^K_p,L^2(G)) & = \widehat K^*(\nu)\quad\text{for }p=2,\end{aligned} \] in which \(K\in L^1(G)\cap L^2(G)\), \(\widehat K^*\) is the non-decreasing rearrangement of the Fourier transform of \(K\), and \(W^K_p\) is the image of the unit ball of \(L^p(G)\) by the convolution with \(K\). Several examples are given then.
