This paper constructs nonhomogeneous multivariate Padé approximants for functions that satisfy functional equations like for example \(F(q^\mu x,q^\nu y)=R(x,y)F(x,y)\) where \(q\) is a complex parameter, \(| q| >1\), \(R\) is a polynomial of degree 1 in \(x\) and \(y\) and \(\mu\) and \(\nu\) are nonnegative integers. Solutions to this equations are multivariate generalizations of functions like \(q\)-elementary functions. Unlike in the univariate case, there are only few functions that satisfy such a relation. There are many different ways of defining Padé approximants in two variables, depending on the choice of the index sets for numerator, denominator, and interpolation set. The main difficulty in finding explicit expressions for the Padé approximants lies in finding an appropriate choice for these index sets.
