The purpose of the paper is to study the stability of linear delay systems of the form \(x'(t)=Ax(t)+Bx(t_\tau)\), where \(A,B \in C^{d\times d}\) are constant complex matrices, \(x(t_\tau)=(x_1(t-\tau_1),x_2(t-\tau_2),\dots,x_d(t-\tau_d))^T\), \(\tau_k>0\), \(k=1,\dots,d\). Two criteria are obtained, which are based on the evaluation of the characteristic quasipolynomial on the boundary of a certain region. Similar results are also obtained for neutral equations \(x'(t)=Ax(t)+Bx(t-\tau)+Cx'(t-\tau)\), \(\tau>0\). Numerical results illustrate the theory.
