The authors study the controllability properties of linear control semigroups acting on the projective space. A semilinear control system of the form (1) \(\dot x=A(u(t))x\) on \(\mathbb{R}^ d\setminus \{0\}\), where \(u\) is any measurable map \(u: \mathbb{R}\to U\subset\mathbb{R}^ n\), is associated with the semigroup \({\mathcal S}=\{e^{t_ n B_ n} \dots e^{t_ 1 B_ 1}\mid t_ j\geq 0\), \(B_ j=A(u_ j)\), \(u_ j\in U\}\). This semigroup acts in a natural way on \(\mathbb{R}^ d \setminus\{0\}\), on the \((d-1)\)- dimensional sphere and on the \((d-1)\)-dimensional projective space \(\mathbb{P}\). In particular, the action on \(bbfP\) is related to the system (2) \(\dot s= [A(u)- s^ T A(u)s]s\), \(s\in\mathbb{P}\). The paper is actually devoted to the investigation of the controllability properties of (2) (in particular, the structure of control sets and chain control sets) under the assumption that the group generated by \(\mathbb{S}\) acts transitively on \(\mathbb{P}\).
