Motivated by applications in the theory of neural networks, the authors consider an impulsive delay differential system and prove results on the existence and global exponential stability of a periodic solution. The moments of impulse action are pre-assigned and the delays vary in time. Unlike other papers which assume that the activation functions of the neurons are bounded and differentiable, the authors consider them to be Lipschitz continuous only. Mawhin's continuation theorem is the basic tool in the proof of the existence of a periodic solution and Lyapunov functions are used to obtain the stability result. The last sections of the paper are devoted to applications and comments on the main theorems.
