Some results on generalized residual entropy (Q2575623)

The authors generalize the residual entropy in the following forms: \[ H_1^\beta(X;t)=\frac{1}{\beta-1}\left[1-\int^\infty_t\left(\frac{f(x)} {\overline{F(t)}}\right)^\beta\, dx\right] \] (First kind residual entropy of order \(\beta\)) and \[ H_1^\beta(X;t)=\frac{1}{\beta-1}\ln \int^\infty_t \left(\frac{f(x)}{\overline{F(t)}}\right)^\beta\,dx \] (Second kind residual entropy of order \(\beta\)). Some ordering and properties for these generalized residual entropies are given. Some distributions are characterized through these residual entropies.
