    Extending the results of \textit{L. S. Bosanquet} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 41, 517-528 (1936; Zbl 0015.06402)], \textit{R. Mohanty} and \textit{B. Misra} [Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 6, 5-12 (1954; Zbl 0057.300)], \textit{K. Matsumoto} [Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 9, 222-233 (1957; Zbl 0089.278)], and \textit{G. Dikshit} [Kyungpook Math. J. 17, 195-201 (1977; Zbl 0382.42005)], the athors prove the following Theorem: Let \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) and \(\gamma\) be real numbers such that \(\gamma >\alpha >0\) and \(\beta\geq 0\). Suppose real numbers \(\delta\) and \(\eta\) be such that \(\delta\leq \eta -\alpha \beta\), unless \(\beta =0\) and \(\gamma\) \(\neq 0\), in which case \(\delta <\eta\). Then \(\phi_{\alpha}(t)(\log k/t)^{\eta}\in BV(0,\pi)\) \(\Rightarrow\) \(\sum A_ n(x)(\log n)^{\delta}\in | R,\exp \{(\log w)^{1+\beta}\},\gamma |,\) whee \(\phi (t)=\{f(x+t)+f(x-t)-2\ell \},\) where \(\ell\) is suitable suitable chosen number, \(\sum A_ n(x)\) is the Fourier series of f at x and \[ \phi_{\alpha}(t)=\alpha t^{-\alpha}\int^{t}_{0}(t- u)^{\alpha -1} \phi (u) du\quad (\alpha >0). \] Remark. The case \(\eta =-1\), \(\delta =-1-\beta /2\) and \(0<\alpha \leq\) of the above theorem substantially improves upon a result due to \textit{M. K. Nayak} [Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 70, 421-433 (1971; Zbl 0259.42014)].
