This summary paper describes the dual of \textit{W. M. Singer}'s algebraic transfer [Math. Z. 202, No.~4, 493--523 (1989; Zbl 0687.55014)] for the May spectral sequence. The authors then outline how this can be used to show that certain elements in the cohomology of the Steenrod algebra are not detected by Singer's transfer, and that all of the family \(\{p_i\}\) is in the image of the transfer.
