The authors study the adaptive grid generation for the discrete solution of singularly perturbed boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations. An analysis for an upwind finite difference solution on a grid generated adaptively by equidistributing a monitor function based on the exact solution is presented. The analysis deals only with semi-discretization of the adaptive method when the exact solution is used to generate the mesh. It is shown that the discrete solutions converge uniformly with respect to the perturbation parameter. Numerical computations illustrate the uniform convergence.
