This is an extension of the previous work of \textit{T. Ikohagi} and \textit{B. R. Shin} [Comput. Fluids 19, No. 3/4, 479-488 (1991; Zbl 0733.76045)] to the three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in curvilinear coordinates. The authors obtain the steady state solutions, retaining the features of the implicit SMAC scheme. As an example, the three-dimensional viscous flow over a backward-facing step is briefly discussed. It has been concluded that the present scheme predicts the three-dimensional effects which appeared in the spanwise direction, although the flow became unsteady as a result of increase in the Reynolds number.
