Let \(F =(F_1,\dots,F_n)\) denote a holomorphic vector field on \(\mathbb{C}^n\) which is singular only at the origin. For any \(\theta\in [0,\pi)\) let \(M_\theta\) be the set of points of \(\mathbb{C}^n\) where the real flow of the vector field \(e^{i\theta}\cdot F\) is tangent to the spheres around zero. This means that \(M_\theta=\{z\in \mathbb{C}^n\mid \text{Re}\langle e^{i\theta} F(z), z\rangle= 0\}\) where \(\langle\cdots\rangle\) is the Hermitian product. Then each \(M_\theta\) is a real algebraic variety containing the origin, and the intersection of all \(M_\theta\)'s is the variety \(M =\{z\in \mathbb{C}^n\mid \langle F(z), z\rangle= 0\}\). This decomposition is used to define a map \(\phi:\mathbb{C}^n-M\to\mathbb{R} P^1\) by \(\phi(z) =\theta \bmod \pi\) whenever \(\text{Re}\langle e^{i\theta} F(z),z\rangle= 0\). The map \(\phi\) lifts to a map \(\widetilde{\phi}:\mathbb{C}^n-M\to S^1\). Following ideas of \textit{J. Milnor} for complex singularities [Singular points of complex hypersurfaces, Ann. Math. Stud. 61 (1968; Zbl 0184.48405)] the author studies the maps \(\phi\) and \(\widetilde{\phi}\) for vector fields \(F\) of the form \(F(z)=(k_1z^{a_1}_{i_1}, \dots,k_nz^{a_n}_{i_n})\), where \(a_1,\dots,a_n\) are integer \(\geq 2\), \(k_1,\dots,k_n\in\mathbb{C} - \{0\}\) and \((i_1,\dots,i_n)\) is any permutation of \((1,\dots,n)\). In this case, \(\phi\) and \(\widetilde{\phi}\) are locally trivial fibrations and the restriction of \(\phi\) to \(S^{2n-1} - M\) defines an open book decomposition of \(S^{2n-1}\).
