    In this paper, the author studies the approximation of functions belonging to the Bernstein space \(B_{\sigma }^{p}\) by finite trigonometric sums \[ P_{\tau }(x)=\chi _{\tau }(x)\sum_{\left| k\right| \leq \sigma \tau /\pi }c_{k,\tau }e^{i\frac{\pi }{\tau }kx} \] in the \(L^{p}\) norm on \(\mathbb{R}\) as \(\tau \to \infty .\) Here, \(\chi _{\tau }\) denotes the characteristic function of \(\left[ -\tau ,\tau \right] .\) Recall that for \(\alpha >0\) and \(1\leq p\leq \infty ,\) the Bernstein space \(B_{\sigma }^{p}\) is a Banach space of all \(f\in L^{p}(\mathbb{R})\) such that \(f\) is bandlimited to \(\sigma\); that is, the distributional Fourier transform of \(f\) is supported in the interval \(\left[ -\sigma,\sigma \right]\). The main results of this paper, Theorem 1 and Theorem 2, generalize some earlier results.
