Periodic second species solutions (SSS), as was introduced first by H. Poincaré, of the circular three-body problem (two primaries - the big one \(E\), the small one \(M\) - and the infinitesimal body \(P\) ) are studied. The \(p-q\) resonant orbits present trajectories of the body \(P\) which between two consecutive close approaches to the small primary \(M\), performs \( p \) revolutions around the big primary \(E\) while the body \(M\) goes \(q\) revolutions around the center of masses of the primaries. Interest in the study of this kind of solutions comes from their applications to the design of spacecraft missions, since they can be used to reduce the characteristic velocity of the orbit capture and also because of their role as a natural motion of comets. The main goal of the paper is to study which of the plane \(p-q\) resonant orbits can be extended to periodic SSS's of the restricted three-body problem.
