Non-symmetric association schemes of symmetric matrices (Q5905527)

Let \(F_ q\) be a finite field with \(q\) elements, where \(q\) is a power of an odd prime. Let \(X_ n\) be the set of all \(n\times n\) matrices over \(F_ q\). In this paper it has been proved that the association scheme \((X_ n,\{R_ 0,R(r,\xi)| 1\leq r\leq n\), \(\xi=1\) or \(z\})\) is symmetric for \(q\equiv 1\pmod 4\) and non-symmetric for \(q\equiv 3\pmod 4\).
