Sufficient conditions for a random walk in a random environment (RWRE) on a group to be recurrent are given. The group must be amenable and the homeomorphism associated to the invariant measure must be null. Examples of recurrent reversible RWRE are given in \({\mathbb{R}}^ d\) for all d. The examples are similar to the examples given independently by \textit{R. Durrett} [Commun. Math. Phys. 104, No.1, 87-102 (1986; Zbl 0595.60072)].
