Simplicial volume of Hilbert modular varieties (Q1026409)

In the paper [Acta Math. 197, No.~1, 129--143 (2006; Zbl 1111.57020)], \textit{J.-F. Lafont} and \textit{B. Schmidt} proved that the simplicial (Gromov) volume of closed locally symmetric spaces of non-compact type is positive. In the paper under review, the authors extend this result to certain non-compact locally symmetric spaces of finite volume, in particular, to Hilbert modular varieties.
