Let \(S_{2n,m}\) \((n,m=1,2,\dots)\) denote a space of \(2\pi\)-periodic splines with simple knots \(t_ k=k\pi/n\), \(1\leq k\leq 2n\). It is known that for an arbitrary \(2\pi\)-periodic continuous function \(f\) there exists a unique member \(s\in S_{2n,m}\) such that \(s(\tau_ k)=f(\tau_ k)\), where \(\tau_ k=t_ k-[1+(-1)^ m]\pi/4n\) \((1\leq k\leq 2n)\) are the zeros of the perfect spline \(\phi_{n,m+1}\). The main result of this paper is contained in the following: Theorem 1. If \(f\in W^{m+1}_ \infty\), then \(\| f'-s'\|_ \infty\leq\|\phi'_{(n,m+1)}\|_ \infty=\|\phi_{n,m}\|_ \infty \) . Here, \(\|\cdot\|_ \infty\) stands for the sup-norm over \([0,2\pi]\).
