The paper under review is one of the series of papers of the authors beginning from 1990 (sometimes with the other coauthors), devoted to the traces of intertwining operators for quantum groups \(U_q(\mathfrak g)\), where \(\mathfrak g\) is a simple Lie algebra. In [Math. Res. Lett. 6, 593--612 (1999; Zbl 1015.17024)], the classical Macdonald-Ruijsenaars (MR) and Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov-Bernard (KZB) equations are generalized to the case when the trace is twisted using a ``generalized Belavin-Drinfeld triple''. It turns out that such twisted traces also satisfy differential equations which involve dynamical \(R\)-matrices, attached to the triple. The quantum generalization of the [loc. cit.] is given. In [Duke Math. J. 104, 391--432 (2000; Zbl 1004.17006)] \textit{P. Etingof} and \textit{A. Varchenko} considered weighted traces of products of intertwining operators for quantum groups \(U_q(\mathfrak g)\). There it is shown that the generating function \(F(\lambda, \mu)\), where \(\lambda,\mu\) are complex weights for \(\mathfrak g\), satisfies commuting systems of difference equations of MR and KZB type. The object of the paper under review is the generalization of these equations to the twisted case. The authors deduce difference equations with respect to the weight \(\lambda\) for the generating function of the twisted traces, the twisted MR and qKZB equations. They involve the dynamical \(R\)-matrix constructed in [the authors and \textit{T. Schedler}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 13, 595--609 (2000; Zbl 0957.17011)]. Making the automorphism of the Dynkin diagram of \(\mathfrak g\), the authors deduce the twisted dual MR and qKZB equations, i.e. difference equations with respect to the other weight \(\mu\). These last equations involve the usual Felder's dynamical \(R\)-matrix. In the conclusion, the construction of the quantum dynamical \(R\)-matrices to the case when \(\mathfrak g\) is arbitrary symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra is given. In the next paper the authors intend to consider the case of affine algebras when traces take values in finite-dimensional representations.
