The authors study the effect of Poiseuille flow on peristaltic transport. For that purpose, they consider axially symmetric motion of Newtonian fluid through a cylindrical tube whose boundary is subjected to axial wave motion. For the solution of the differential equations the authors employ a perturbation expansion method by treating the Reynolds number as small perturbation parameter. Assuming an initial axial flow (Poiseuille flow), the authors consider the effect of Poiseuille parameter \(k\) on flow characteristics. They observe that the fluid phase mean axial velocity increases with increasing the Poiseuille parameter \(k\). The authors also discuss the phenomena of reflux numerically for various values of \(k\).
