A substitution rule \(\sigma\) consists of several prototiles \(T_1\), \dots, \(T_m\), an inflation factor \(\lambda > 1\), and, for each \(i = 1\), \dots, \(m\), a dissection of \(\lambda T_i\) into congruent copies of the prototiles \(T_1\), \dots, \(T_m\). Any patch \(\sigma(T_i)\) is called a supertile. A substitution rule is called primitive if there is \(k \in \mathbb N\) such that each \(k\)th order supertile \(\sigma^k(T_i)\) contains congruent copies of all prototiles. In the paper under review the authors construct some primitive substitution tilings with regular \(n\)-gons, triangles, and several parallelograms as prototiles. Using a general result on the irrationality of angles in certain parallelograms, it is proved that in the constructed tilings the tile orientations are dense. The authors construct substitution tilings that are invariant under \(n\)-fold rotation for \(n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6\), and 8.
