Rasmussen introduced a knot invariant for knots in the 3-sphere \(S^3\) using Khovanov homology theory, and showed that this invariant estimates the four-genus of knots. In [\textit{T. Kawamura}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 130, No. 1, 243--252 (2002; Zbl 0986.57006)] and [\textit{L. Rudolph}, Proceedings of the Kirbyfest, Berkeley, CA, USA, June 22--26, 1998, Geom. Topol. Monogr. 2, 555--562 (1999; Zbl 0962.57004)] the sharper slice-Bennequin inequality was obtained. In this article a similar sharper inequality on the Rasmussen inequality is obtained. More precisely the following is shown: For a knot \(K\) with diagram \(D_K\), let \(s(K)\) be the Rasmussen invariant and \(w(D_K)\) the writhe of \(D_K\). Apply the Seifert algorithm to \(D_K\). A Seifert circle is a \textit{strongly negative circle} if it is adjacent to at least two negative crossings, but not adjacent to any positive crossings. A Seifert circle is a \textit{non negative circle} if it is not a strongly negative circle. \(O_<(D_K)\) and \(O_{\leq}(D_K)\) denote the numbers of strongly negative circles and non-negative cirles respectively. If \(D_K\) contains at least one negative crossing then \[ s(K) \geq w(D_K) - (O_{\leq}(D_K)-O_<(D_K))+1. \] Furthermore the author obtains the following inequalities: \( s(K) \geq w(D_K)-O(D_K)+1\) where \(O(D_K)\) is the number of Seifert circles in \(D_K\); \( 2 g^*(K) \geq w(D_K)-O(D_K)+1\) where \(g^*(K)\) is the four genus of \(K\). However as the author points out these inequalities haven been already obtained elsewhere in the literature.
