Remarks on the postulation of zero-dimensional subschemes of projective space (Q1103018)

Let \(C\subset P\) r be an integral projective curve, and let \(Z\subset C\) be a zero-dimensional subscheme with ideals \(I\subset {\mathcal O}_{P\quad r}\) and \(J\subset {\mathcal O}_ C\). Our main result is the evaluation of a number N such that H \(1(C,J(n))=0\) for \(n>N\). Applications: (1) Vanishing of H 1(P r,I(n)); (2) Criteria for Z to be a complete intersection on C; (3) Numerical criteria for the regularity of certain linear systems of plane curves.
