The authors investigate the existence of a noncollision solution and some regularity properties of periodic solutions \(q(t)\) of a second order Hamiltonian system (1) \(-q''(t) = \nabla V(t,q(t))\), where \(V \in C^ 1(R \times R^ n - \{0\},R)\) is \(T\)-periodic in \(t\), \(V(t,x) \to - \infty\) as \(| x| \to 0\), and, \(V\) is not a ``Strong Force'' (i.e. if the following condition is violated: \(-V(t,x) \geq c/| x|^ 2\) for some \(c > 0\), when \(| x|\) is close to 0). In particular, there is shown that every generalized solution has only finitely many collisions and that the number of collisions can be bounded in terms of the value of the action functional of the Morse index of a sequence of approximated solutions. The existence of the generalized solution for (1) has been proved by \textit{A. Bahri} and \textit{P. H. Rabinowitz} [J. Funct. Anal. 82, No. 2, 412-428 (1989; Zbl 0681.70018)]. For other related papers see the first author [J. Math. Pures Appl., IX. Ser. 86, 109-119 (1989; Zbl 0633.34034)) and \textit{R. Ambrosetti} and the first author [Math. Z. 201, No. 2, 227-242 (1989; Zbl 0653.34032)].
