Milnor's well-known theorem concerning the Euler number of a flat \(SL(2,\mathbb{R})\)-vector bundle is generalized. Namely, it is proved an extension of this theorem to a representation of surface group to the symplectic group \(Sp(2p,\mathbb{R})\).
