The main theorem states that if \(G\) and \(K\) are \(p\)-toral compact Lie groups, then any element in the image of \[ \{BG_p^\wedge,BK_p^\wedge\}\to \Hom(H_*(BG,F_p),H_*(BK,F_p)) \] is a \(F_p\)-linear combination of elements of the form \[ H_*(BG,F_p)@>\text{tr}'_*>> H_*(BH_\infty,F_p) @>B\phi_*>> H_*(BK,F_p), \] where \(H_\infty\) is a \(p\)-discrete toral subgroup of \(F_\infty\), and \(\phi:H_\infty \to K\) a homomorphism. Here \(F_\infty\) is the union of a certain nested sequence of finite \(p\)-subgroups of \(G\), and \(\text{tr}':BG_p^\wedge\to BH_{\infty p}^\wedge\) is the composition of a transfer map and a stable equivalence. This result generalizes one of [\textit{C.-N. Lee}, Math. Z. 226, No. 1, 25-50 (1997; Zbl 0883.22009)].
