Der Verf. giebt eine neue Integrationsmethode, die darauf beruht, eine gegebene Differentialgleichung in eine totale, vollständig integrirbare Differentialgleichung zu transformiren. Ist gegeben \[ F(y'',y',y,x) = 0,\tag{1} \] wo \(F\) linear in \(y''\) ist, so kann man (1) in der Form schreiben: \[ Rdy' + Qdy + Pdx = 0, \] wo \(R\), \(Q\), \(P\) Functionen von \(x\), \(y\), \(y'\) sind, oder, indem man \(\alpha dy-\alpha y'dx=0\) hinzufügt, \[ Rdy' + (Q+\alpha)dy + (P-\alpha y')dx = 0.\tag{2} \] Wählt man nun \(\alpha\) als Function von \(x\), \(y\), \(y'\) so, dass (2) vollständig integrabel wird, so wird \(\alpha\) durch eine lineare partielle Differentialgleichung bestimmt. Eine particuläre Lösung derselben macht die Gleichung (2) integrabel, und ein allgemeines Integral derselben \[ \varphi(y', y, x) = \text{const.} \] liefert ein erstes allgemeines Integral der Gleichung (1). Diese Methode lässt sich leicht auf Differentialgleichungen \(n^{\text{ter}}\) Ordnung ausdehnen.
