A model problem of the stability of the Poiseuille flow in the channel \(\mathbb T\times(-1,1)\) with the Navier slip condition is studied. The authors estimate the transition threshold in viscosity \(\nu\), more precisely their result reads: if the initial vorticity satisfies \(\|\omega_0\|_{L^2} \lesssim \nu^{3/4}\), then the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations linearized around the two-dimensional Poiseuille flow is global and decays in \(L^2\) like \(e^{-c\sqrt{\nu}t}\). The proof involves resolvent estimates for the Orr-Sommerfeld equation.
