Let (X,\(\xi)\) be a germ of complex space. For \(f\in {\mathcal O}_{X,\xi}\) denote by \(\nu_{\xi}(f)\) the order with respect to the maximal ideal of \({\mathcal O}_{X,\xi}\). The main result states that if (X,\(\xi)\) is a germ of rational normal surface, then there exist \(a_ 1\geq 1,\) \(b_ 1\geq 0\) such that \(\nu_{\xi}(fg)\leq a_ 1(\nu_{\xi}(f)+\nu_{\xi}(g))+b_ 1,\) for any \(f,g\in {\mathcal O}_{X,\xi}.\) From this one can deduce other inequalities concerning orders, using the author's previous work [Invent. Math. 65, 459-471 (1982; Zbl 0497.32005)].
