The paper continues the study of a self-adjoint analytic operator valued function \(A(z)\) started in [J.~Funct.\ Anal.\ 235, No.\,1, 193--225 (2006; Zbl 1125.47010)]. Some properties of the local spectral function and of the spectral subspaces of \(A(z)\) are established. It is known [op.\,cit.] that \(A(z)\) admits a linearization \(\Lambda\) in a Krein space \({\mathcal{F}}\). An inner linearization \(S\) of \(A(z)\) which acts on the subspace \({\mathcal{H}}(\Delta_{0})\) of a given Hilbert space \({\mathcal{H}}\), corresponding to some interval \(\Delta_{0}\) is constructed. It is shown that, if \(A(z)\) satisfies the Virozub-Matsaev condition on some interval \(\Delta _{0}\) and is boundedly invertible in the endpoints of \(\Delta _{0}\), then the `embedding' of the original Hilbert space \({\mathcal{H}}\) into the Hilbert space \({\mathcal{F}}\), where the linearization of \(A(z)\) acts, is in fact an isomorphism between a subspace \({\mathcal{H}}(\Delta_{0})\) of \({\mathcal{H}}\) and \({\mathcal{F}}\). In the case \({\mathcal{H}}(\Delta_{0})=\mathcal{H}\), a simple proof of of a factorization result of \textit{A.\,I.\thinspace Virozub} and \textit{V.\,I.\thinspace Matsaev} [Funct.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 8, 1--9 (1974); translation from Funkts.\ Anal.\ Prilozh.\ 8, No.\,1, 1--10 (1974; Zbl 0294.47012)] and explicit expressions for the factors in terms of the local spectral function of \(A(z)\) are given.
