    A compactum \(K\subset \mathbb R^2\) is said to be basic, if for each map \(f:K\to \mathbb R\) there exist maps \(g,h:\mathbb R\to \mathbb R\) such that \(f(x,y) = g(x) + h(y)\) for each point \((x,y)\in K\). Furthermore, if \(S\subset \mathbb R^2\) is a subset, then a map \(f:S\to \mathbb R\) is called 1-analytic if for each point \((x_0,y_0)\in S\), \(f\) can be written as \[ f(x_0+x,y_0+y) = f(x_0,y_0) + ax + by + o(| x| + | y| ) \] where \((x,y)\to (0,0)\). A compactum \(K\) is called \(C^1\)-basic if an analogous statement holds for 1-analytic maps. The obtained result relates these notions when \(K\) is a finite graph: If a finite graph \(K\) is basically embeddable into \(\mathbb R^2\), then \(K\) is \(C^1\)-basically embeddable into \(\mathbb R^2\). Besides this, \(r\)-analytic functions on a subset \(S\subset \mathbb R^2\) are treated and analogously \(C^r\)-basic compacta in \(\mathbb R^2\), and it is shown that for any integer \(k\), there is a compactum in the plane which is \(C^r\)-basic for each \(0\leq r\leq k\) but not \(C^r\)-basic for \(r\geq k+1\) (\(C^0\)-basic = basic).
