The author constructs vector-valued integrals of Henstock-Kurzweil or McShane type on a compact metric space equipped with a Radon probability measure. The construction relies on a suitable notion of generalized interval in metric spaces. As an auxiliary step in the construction, the author provides results guaranteeing the existence of partitions by such intervals, fine with respect to a fixed gauge. The construction reproduces the classical Henstock-Kurzweil integral on compact intervals of the real line, or the classical Henstock integral relative to either the Kurzweil or Kempisty base on compact rectangles in the plane, depending on the choice of the class of intervals.
