This paper is a continuation of [ibid. 15, No. 2, 261-274 (1991; Zbl 0758.54005)]. We recall that an open cover of a topological space is called normal if it admits a subordinated, locally finite partition of unity. A subspace \(A\) of a space \(X\) is called normally embedded if for every normal cover \({\mathcal U}\) of \(A\), there exists a normal cover of \(X\) whose trace on \(A\) refines \({\mathcal U}\). The author deals with strong shape theory [\textit{S. Mardešić} and \textit{J. Segal}, Shape theory (1982; Zbl 0495.55001)], and in particular, for pairs \((X,A)\) where \(A\) is normally embedded in \(X\). For example, he proves that such a pair has the strong shape of a pair \((Y,B)\) for which the inclusion \(B\hookrightarrow Y\) is a cofibration. He also shows that a strong shape morphism of such pairs is a strong shape equivalence if and only if it operates as a strong shape equivalence of the total spaces and of the subspaces taken separately.
