A \textit{cylindrical helix} in 3-dimensional Euclidean space \(\mathbb R^{3}\) is a regular curve of constant slope. This means that the tangent vector forms a constant angle with some fixed non null vector. There are a number of characterizations of these curves, amongst them the constant ratio of torsion and curvature. The authors call a regular curve in \(\mathbb R^{4}\) a \textit{generalized cylindrical helix} if the ratios \(\kappa_1:\kappa_2:\kappa_3\) are constant, where \(\kappa_i\) is the \(i\)-th curvature (\(\kappa_1, \kappa_2>0\)). The present paper gives some characterizations of these curves generalizing those of the 3-dimensional case. Furthermore relations to Lagrangian surfaces of \(\mathbb R^{4}\) are pointed out.
